Scott Maw Mkin, CSCS
Director, Sport Science
Scott holds a Master of Kinesiology in exercise science from the University of Calgary. Sport is what he’s always known. From a young age, he was encouraged to play a multitude of sports and was inspired by athletes like Silken Laumann.
Scott joined the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta in 2000 as a strength and conditioning coach. For the past 20 years, he has worked with several sports including long and short track speed skating, swimming and track cycling. Now the Integrated Support Team lead for speed skating, Scott has been to five Olympic Games (2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018) and has become an expert in the fields of athlete monitoring, performance analysis and altitude training.
Scott’s proudest moments come when watching athletes stand on the Olympic podium knowing the team behind them got it right. When not in the field, Scott has a passion for the outdoors and plays sports with his partner Kristina and their two daughters.
