David Paskevich, PhD

David holds a PhD in Kinesiology (Sport Psychology) from the University of Waterloo and is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. He joined the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta with extensive experience as both a researcher and practitioner.

David has supported athletes and teams at 8 Olympic Games, earning 14 Olympic medals, 92 World Championship medals (including 30 World Champions across 7 sports), and over 400 World Cup podiums. He has worked with several NSOs, including Speed Skating Canada, Nordiq Canada, Taekwondo Canada, Water Ski Canada, and Freestyle Canada.

David focuses on developing mental resilience, strategic coping, stress management, team cohesion, psychological readiness, and high-performance team functioning to support sustained success in elite sport. He also consults with professional athletes in the NHL, CFL, NLL, rodeo, golf, squash, and water ski. David is a Professional Member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association.
