Daniel Gutierrez

Daniel Gutierrez holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary, where he completed an honours project examining how different cueing strategies affect joint kinematics during hopping movements. He graduated with the Kinesiology Gold Medal for Highest Distinction in Scholarship, awarded to the top student in his class.
Daniel joined the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta in 2022 and has since worked with athletes across Freestyle Skiing, Wrestling, Para-Alpine, Speed Skating, and various individual para-athletes. He currently supports athletes in the Oval Program (Long and Short Track Speed Skating), Speed Skating Canada’s Long Track team, and Freestyle Alberta’s Moguls and Park & Pipe teams.
Daniel’s coaching philosophy is grounded in evidence-based practice, kindness, and enjoyment.
Born in Mexico, he immigrated to Canada in 2008 and became a citizen in 2023. Outside of work, he enjoys grappling, juggling, and hiking.
