Marianne Portelance BHPED

Marianne completed her Bachelor of Health and Physical Education with a major in Physical Literacy and a minor in Psychology from Mount Royal University. While completing her undergrad, she worked as a personal trainer at the YMCA and volunteered as an events coordinator for the Outlier Surf Club. For the past four and a half years, she has worked with the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta, starting in Marketing and Communications and growing into her current role as a Performance Services Coordinator. She also leads RBC Training Ground events across Alberta, serves as the chair of the RBC Training Ground Inclusivity Council, and was the lead of the SPIN Summit 2025 in Calgary.
Originally from Ottawa, Ontario, Marianne competed as a national level long track speed skater and competitive cyclist. She is passionate about giving back to the sport community and has volunteered at major events such as Red Bull Crashed Ice and the CrossFit Games, and she has been part of three Canada Games, attending in Niagara Falls in 2021, Prince Edward Island in 2023, and Newfoundland in 2025 as Mission Staff and social media lead. Outside of work, you will often find her cheering on local athletes or spending time in the mountains.
