CSI Calgary is also pleased to launch our new Safe Sport microsite. The site is divided into three sections: PROVIDE – Providing a Platform for Reporting; PREVENT – Prevention Through Education; and PROMOTE – Promoting a Safe Sport Environment.

The PROVIDE section is designed to be a place for our athletes, coaches, and staff to easily find the right information to contact someone based on the nature of a concern. Whether it is reporting of misconduct, an incident, whistleblowing, or if someone is looking for mental health support, this page includes information on the various platforms available for reporting and support.

The PREVENT section’s purpose is to offer a central place with a vast collection of internal and external resources available to everyone in sport. The page includes resources on mental health, wellness and nutrition, injury prevention, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. We have also pulled useful websites, eLearning Modules, and other resources from organizations like True Sport, the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner (OSIC), Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada (SDRCC), the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, Respect Group, Coaching Association of Canada, and Game Plan to name a few.

The PROMOTE section includes all CSI Calgary updated policies related to ensuring we provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive sport environment.

We would like to acknowledge Skate Canada for its support and inspiration in the development of our safe sport site.

Canadian Sport Institute Calgary Announces Partnership with DUER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 24th, 2023

CALGARY – The Canadian Sport Institute Calgary (CSI Calgary) is proud to announce its new community partnership with DUER, a Vancouver-based brand offering a category of stretch performance denim and lifestyle apparel crafted from plants and recycled materials.

“We at DUER are so grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with CSI Calgary!” said Scott Burns, Calgary Store Team Lead, DUER. “The DUER x CSI Calgary partnership grew organically from a chance-meeting between two individuals. Our aligned values alongside our shared passion for supporting individuals with high performance needs has made starting this united journey and nurturing it a priority. Working with Annie Goncin and her team has been enjoyable for the entire process. We are looking forward to seeing athletes and staff in DUER wear, and cannot wait to see what the future holds!”

After decades in the jeanswear business, DUER’s founder traded in his car for a bike to adopt a healthier active lifestyle. Unable to find a pair of pants with stretch to handle a commute and polish for a day of meetings, the need for performance denim emerged. DUER’s products are designed for “doers” to move comfortably from bike lane to boardroom to an evening out, all in a single pair of pants. To learn more about DUER products, visit their website here.

“We are thrilled to bring on DUER as our new community partner. DUER, and all the staff in the Calgary store have been unbelievably supportive in our mission to ‘elevate the athlete’”, said Gary Davies, President & CEO, CSI Calgary. “To kick off the partnership, DUER hosted CSI Calgary and Athletes in the Calgary store for an intimate shopping experience, product-knowledge hour, and fitting sessions. Athletes were paired with a sales associate to further understand the fit and purpose of each denim style. They understand the needs and impact of active, high performance-individuals, and want to ensure affordability for athletes. We are looking forward to the year-ahead working with DUER, and increasing our athletes’ experience networking and working with new partners.”

To inquire about DUER, and for more information on how to take advantage of this community partnership, please contact Manager, Athlete Services & Digital Media, Annie Goncin, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The first retail location in Vancouver opened in 2016 with Toronto and Calgary to follow. In 2020, DUER opened its first U.S. storefront in Denver, Colorado followed by a second location in Los Angeles in the fall of 2021. DUER now has customers in over 27 different countries worldwide and products in 800 independent retailers through its wholesale network. From REI to Nordstrom, DUER effectively bridges the gap between fashion and function with performance apparel for both men and women.
